CUSTOMER REVIEW

This bike is a very nice entry level mountain bike purchased for a 13 year old who will mainly ride it around the very rough neighborhood streets in our town and on the local bike trails. We paid a little more than we had wanted to for a bike but the department store bikes with 26 inch wheels came in basically one size frame that was a little large for my small framed son to handle safely. Love that we could get the frame size he needs to ride safely and comfortably. Downside is that it does not come with a kickstand or water bottle holder which we added since he often likes to go on long rides where having water onboard is essential and he is often not near a bike rack when he stops and wants to avoid scratching up his bike. Not everyone wants a kickstand but if you do want one just know that is an add on item. We purchased the 2012 version of this bike for my older son when he was the same age. It has held up well and my untrained eye can detect no differences in quality between the 2012 and 2014 versions of this bike. Biggest difference I see is the color of the decals and the detailing on the tires, neither of which affect the performance of the bike. Both of my sons were able to put the bikes together following instructions included with minimal assistance from adults. Tuning up and adjusting the bike was not difficult but if you are not trained in how to do this you may want to take your bike to a bike mechanic to have it checked out and fine tuned. Would definitely recommend this bike for entry level riders who are looking for a little more customization than you can get with a department store bike and something a little more affordable than many bike shop bikes. Not sure how this would do if you were using it for daily long rides over rough terrain.
