review

The parts of this bike are the cheapest quality possible and it is pretty surprising that Diamondback would let their brand name to be associated with such a poor product.

[Back ground: I'm using my bicycle as my main mean of transportation for the past 10 years and I enjoy trail riding in various technical levels. I rode various bike types and models in various price ranges. I assembled and fixed many bikes in the past 10 years and I'm pretty comfortable with handling a bike.]

Why this bike in the first place?

I relocated to Boston for 2 years and left my old bike back home so I got this bike since I needed a healthy and inexpensive way to commute to work and that will also allow a very light trail riding on weekends. Of course there are much cheaper options available but I did expect some quality from Diamondback.

Why never again?

The first time the bike came from Amazon I resembled it but couldn't adjust the gear shifting properly (something I did many time before). I took the bike to a bike store to see what's the problem and it turned out that the crank was crooked and it would cost half the bike to get a new decent crank. I returned the bike to Amazon and they shipped a new one (thanks Amazon!).

Assembling the second bike I realized that the pedal hole was not drilled accurately (cheapest parts and make, remember?) and the pedal could not be adjusted properly in a horizontal way. Again, I returned the bike and got another one (silly me, I should have asked for the money back instead for another bike).

Third time is a charm, no? well - it seems OK - the bike was assembled correctly. I ignored the still cheap feeling of the parts (shifts, breaks, etc.) and got on the road. Always on the road, never once on a trail. A few month of sort of happy riding passed till I realized that the front shock springs virtually vanished (broken? too soft?). I'm not a heavy man (160lb) and never used the bike off the road and there is no reason for this to happen. Eh, did anyone mention the poor quality of the parts?

To conclude - I would never recommend the bike to anyone and I'm extremely disappointed with Diamondback.
